Uniform

School uniform is considered to be a very important aspect of school life and reflects our desire to set high standards for pupils both within school and when they represent us in the outside world. We expect all children to come to school neatly dressed in school uniform. Our policy for uniform is designed to be:

  • Appropriate to the particular activities that pupils encounter in school
  • Supported by all concerned – parents/carers, pupils, staff and Governors
  • Encourage community spirit and identity
  • Simple to understand, interpret and enforce
  • Easily obtainable and maintainable
  • Inexpensive

We recommend that all items of clothing and PE kit are be clearly marked with your child’s name and tutor group to ensure they make their way back to them in them if mislaid.

Extremes of fashion of hair or clothing are neither acceptable nor appropriate during school time. Hair should be of natural colour with no dyed, bleached or extremes of hair styles. Long hair must be tied back away from the face using a plain black, blue or natural coloured hair band.

No make-up. Nail polish must not be worn on finger or toe nails. False nails are not permitted.

Jewellery (including necklaces and bracelets, with the exception of medical-alert bracelets) should not be worn in school.

Ear piercings: we allow only plain gold or silver studs to be worn (no more than one and only in the lobe of each ear). Studs must be taken out for P.E. and games lessons for safety reasons. During the period when they cannot be removed, studs must be covered with tape for these lessons. Studs are the responsibility of the child at all times.
