University of Broadstone Curriculum

We are proud to present our University of Broadstone Curriculum (UBC)

Being in your element is not only about aptitude, it’s about passion: it’s about loving what you do…tapping into your natural energy and your most authentic self.
– Sir Ken Robinson

Here at Broadstone Middle, we are passionate about providing opportunities for our young learners to discover what they love and find the things they are great at. Our Broadstone University Curriculum is one way that we can provide those opportunities.

Study modules on offer:
Our University study modules offer variety and diversity, beyond the constraints of the national curriculum offered to schools. We expect our young learners to take risks and be brave in their selections, choosing new and exciting projects that they may not have tried or considered before.

The curriculum structure:
UBC takes place one afternoon per week and each module lasts 9 weeks. The final week is our showcase day where our young learners will demonstrate what they have learned. This will generally involve the community and there will be some opportunities for parents to also engage in the learning.

Making choices:
We will be asking your child to make their UBC choices at the start of term. A prospectus is available on our website so that you can look at take a look at what is on offer and have a conversation with your child about the modules they might choose. We ask pupils to make 8 choices and they will have the opportunity to take part in 4 of the 8 study modules they have opted for across the year.

Who knows, we might just inspire the next Bear Grylls, Barbara Hepworth or even a future Prime Minister…
